Description

The Arched Causeway adjoining the Town Bridge in Sturminster Newton is an 18th-century structure made of coursed rubble and ashlar. It features ten segmental arches with ashlar voussoirs and keel-shaped cutwaters that have rounded tops. The causeway is topped with ashlar coping. It forms a group with the Town Bridge and the bridge carrying the Blandford road, as noted in "RCHM, Dorset, Vol III," published by HMSO in 1970.
