Description

No 523 is a late 17th to 18th century cottage, part of a terrace of three cottages along with Nos 522 and 524. It features plastered walls on a brick base and has a thatched roof with a brick stack. The cottage is one storey with attics. The entrance includes a ledged door beneath a weather-boarded pentice. On the ground floor, there are two casement windows with glazing bars, and the attic has two dormers with similar casements. Inside, the main ground floor room showcases an exposed stop-chamfered ceiling beam and a large fireplace that has been built up. This cottage likely represents encroachment on common land.
