Description
Messrs Norman Goods Warehouse is an 18th-century building, possibly older, that was formerly used as bonded stores. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with blue lias window dressings and mullions, topped by a hipped old slate roof. The warehouse is three storeys high and has an L-shaped layout. The main range features six sets of three-light mullioned windows and two sets of planked loading doors. An external red brick staircase is located at the east end, and there is a lean-to extension at the west end that is partially slate-hung.
Inside, the ground floor has a segmental barred vault supported by chamfered diaphragm arches. The upper floors are lined with planked panelling. The windows are fitted with iron grilles and internal wooden shutters, and two winch hoists are still present.
This building is part of a group that includes No 11, The Fountain, No 13 (Clarence House), the Methodist Church, the Bridport Arms Hotel, Ship Cottage, Gull House, The Dinghy, and Pier Terrace.
