Description

Clarence House is an 18th-century building, altered subsequently. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with the west elevation rendered. The roof is hipped and covered in slate. The building is three storeys high. The south elevation features two large windows with glazing bars on the first floor, while the remaining windows are modern. The west elevation has casement windows on the first and second floors, and five sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, one of which is tripartite. A wall at the southwest corner contains a pointed arched doorway. Clarence House is part of a group that includes No. 11, The Fountain; Messrs Norman Goods Warehouse; the Methodist Church; The Bridport Arms Hotel; Ship Cottage; Gull House; The Dinghy; and Pier Terrace.
