Description
No. 64 on Church Lane is a detached house, likely from the 18th century, though it may have earlier origins. The walls are made of part plastered cob and part brick, resting on a stone base, topped with a thatched roof and a brick chimney. The house has one storey with attics, and there is a single-storey lean-to on the south side, featuring cob and brick walls with a modern tiled roof.
The entrance includes a six-panel raised panel door set in a thatched rustic porch. On the ground floor, there is one casement window and two horizontally sliding sash windows, all fitted with glazing bars. There is also evidence of a blocked doorway at the north end of the building. In the attic, two half-dormers contain horizontally sliding sash windows with glazing bars. It is suggested that the northern section of the house may have originally been an outbuilding before being incorporated into the main structure.
Inside, the main ground floor room features a large fireplace that has been built up, and there is one exposed chamfered ceiling beam.
