Description
Barton Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier. It is constructed of whitewashed rubble and brick, with a thatched roof featuring gable ends. The house has end brick stacks and an additional stack to the left of the doorway. It is a single storey with an attic and has a range of four windows.
On the ground floor, there are two three-light casements with glazing bars flanking a six-panel door, where the upper two panels serve as integral lights. To the left of the door, there is a blocked doorway with a small inserted casement. The upper floor features a jettied gable supported by wooden brackets, beneath which is a four-light casement with horizontal glazing bars. Additionally, there are two other upper floor windows that are three-light casements located under eyebrow dormers with board surrounds. The overall design of the building suggests that it may have originally functioned as an open hall.
