Description
The real tennis court, located 100 metres south-east of Hyde Farmhouse, dates from the late 19th century. It features rock-faced walls and a slate roof with a rock-faced stack at the gable end. The stone gable copings are adorned with heavily moulded kneelers. The structure consists of nine bays, each separated by buttresses that have a plinth and two set-offs. Each bay has two windows positioned high up, which have square heads and labels. Thick mullions, designed as pilasters with capitals, separate the windows. There is an outshut on the north-west gable, topped with a pentice slate roof and stone gable coping. A doorway on the side has a pointed head and carved spandrels, with a single light on each side and a returned label above.
