Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of cottages located on the north side of High Street in Thorncombe. It consists of six cottages numbered 1 to 7, attached together and with an attached end to each. The buildings are constructed with rubble walls and have brick and stone dressings, all painted. They have slate roofs with gable ends. Each cottage is two storeys high and originally had a front door and one window, although number 4 has a double-fronted design. The windows are wooden casements with glazing-bars. Brick stacks are located to the left of each unit, and have been largely renewed. A ridge step rises between numbers 4 and 5 to account for the slope of the ground. The terrace is noteworthy for its contribution to the Group Value of the surrounding buildings.
