Description
Wytherston House is a detached house that was formerly a manor house. It has a core dating from the 17th century and was enlarged in the 18th century, with 20th-century windows added later. The building features rubble-stone walls and a slate roof with stone slabs at the eaves. There are three rebuilt 20th-century stone stacks located at the left gable, left of centre on the ridge, and at the right gable. The house is two storeys high and has five windows, which are 2- and 3-light 20th-century metal casements with lead lights set in wooden frames. The front doorway is centrally located and has a moulded stone architrave with a stone shell-hood supported by moulded stone brackets, dating from the 18th century. The door itself is panelled with two top lights, also from the 20th century. At the back of the house, there is an 18th-century wing that also features 20th-century windows and a stone architrave to a modern door. The interior has been significantly altered in the 1930s, but the front doorway remains an important architectural detail.
