Description
Montevideo House is a detached house built in the early 19th century. It features stone walls that are stuccoed and painted, with a plat band between the ground and first floors. The roof is covered with slate, and there are low brick stacks at the end gables. The house has an L-plan layout, with three storeys and four windows, which are sash windows with thin glazing bars and slightly segmental heads. The ground floor includes French windows, and the front door is located on the south gable wall. This door is a two-leaf design with rib panels at the bottom and lights above with marginal glazing bars. There is also a rectangular top light with a fanned pattern of glazing bars. An attached awning at the road entrance has five cast-iron openwork supports on the east side and a brick wall on the west, topped with a pitched slate roof. The front door opens onto the road and is flush-panelled, flanked by brick piers. There are seven stone steps leading down to the entrance, which is bordered by an iron railing.
