Description
The White Hart Hotel is an inn dated 1708, though it may be older. It features heavily colour-washed brick with stone quoins and a thatched roof that is hipped to the right. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a six-window range. On the ground floor, there are three canted bays with glazing bars, likely from the 19th century. To the left, there is a passage leading to the rear, marked by a large lintel. The entrance door is topped with a segmental hood supported by shaped brackets. Above the passage, the first floor is partially set into the roof, featuring an eyebrow dormer with a five-light wooden casement window in a wooden frame. The other first-floor windows are three-light wooden frames with centrally opening iron casements and leaded-lights. The roof includes two dormers, each with two-light wooden casement windows with leaded-lights. Inside, the building has undergone significant alterations, but deep chamfered ceiling beams are still visible. A date stone inside reads "RWM 1708."
