Description
Lower Newland is a building dating from 1625, located on the south side of Newland. It features a front that was altered in the late 18th century to early to mid-19th century. The structure was likely originally two separate dwellings. It has a gabled roof covered with plain tiles and a stone slate verge. The front is made of stone rubble. On the first floor, there are two 2-light wood casement windows with segmental heads, small panes, and gauged stone voussoirs, with two similar windows located below. There was originally a doorway at either end of the building, but now there is only one at the right-hand end, which has a modern door in its frame. Above this, there is a single light metal-framed casement window. The buildings numbered 100 to 116 (even) form a group.
