Description
Shitterton Farm House is a detached farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, with two expansions in the 19th century and a small addition from the 20th century on the south side. The building features brick walls and a thatched roof, with brick stacks that have oversailing caps. It has an L-shaped plan, with the original section comprising two storeys and an attic, while the later additions are one storey with an attic.
The original section has a plat band at the first-floor level and includes a brick porch at the angle of the house, which has a flat roof and a ledged door. There is a second entrance in the early 19th-century extension, featuring a ledged door within a trellised porch. The entrance range has three casement windows on the ground floor and one on the first floor, all with glazing bars. The projecting wing on the north side has double-hung sash windows on the ground floor and casement windows on the first floor and attic gable, all also with glazing bars.
Inside, the main ground floor room boasts a large open fireplace with an elliptical brick arch, along with some chamfered ceiling beams.
