Description
West Lodge is a detached lodge built in the mid-19th century by Ferrey. It features brick walls in Flemish bond, complemented by rusticated stone quoins. The upper storey is half-timbered and jetties out, while the steep-pitched roofs are covered with clay tiles, showcasing projecting eaves and moulded bargeboards. The building has clustered brick and octagonal stone stacks located just behind the ridge.
It is one and a half storeys tall with irregular fenestration, including 2-light cast-iron casements that have glazing bars lozenged at the intersections, all set in chamfered wooden frames with dressed stone surrounds. The ground floor windows on the west side and the window above the south porch feature pronounced hood-moulds. There is a 2-light canted oriel on the east end wall, which retains its intact casements and has moulded corbelling. The south porch is marked by rusticated stone quoins and a steeply pitched gable above. The entrance features a 4-centred doorway with stone jambs and a plank door framed in wood.
