Description

The Hodges Monument is a square memorial located 10 metres north of St. Augustine's Well in the churchyard of Cerne Abbey, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is made of stone and features one fielded panel on each side, a moulded cornice, and a hipped top block. The monument commemorates John Hodges, who died on January 30, 1837, and his wife Mary, who passed away on February 25, 1855. The memorial is surrounded by iron railings that have urn finials, also from the 19th century.
