Description

The British Legion Headquarters is a building from the 18th century or early 19th century, located on High East Street. It is constructed from Portland rubble with red brick dressings, featuring a distinctive end elevation with chequer brickwork. The building has a hipped slate roof and stands two storeys tall. Most of the windows and doors have been modernized. Along the east side, there is a blocked brick arcade consisting of five round-headed arches. The headquarters is part of a group that includes Nos 35 to 43 (consecutive), as well as No 39A, No 39B, and the arch between Nos 40 and 41.
