Description
Hillbutts Post Office and the attached cottage, located on the north side of Abbott Street in Pamphill, is probably from the 17th century. The building features timber-framed walls, some of which are plastered, and has thatched roofs with brick stacks. It is one storey high with attics. The main elevation includes a part-glazed door leading to the shop, along with a second similar door in a glazed porch. The ground floor has three casement windows with cast iron lights, while the attic has three dormers with similar casements. The half-hipped gable end at the rear has one casement window with horizontal glazing bars on each floor. There is a single-storey lean-to at the back, made of brick with a tiled roof, and an attached garage clad in corrugated iron. Inside, some exposed chamfered ceiling beams can be seen.
