Description

Max Gate is a Grade I listed building located on Alington Avenue. It was constructed in 1885 and designed by the architect Thomas Hardy. The building is made of red brick and reflects the "Queen Anne" style, resembling the work of architect William Henry Webb rather than that of George Edmund Street. Hardy built Max Gate as his personal residence, where he lived until his death in 1928.
