Description
Loud's Mill is a former cloth mill located on St George's Road, featuring a red brick range that stands three to four storeys high. The building has mostly three-light windows with small panes and segmental heads. The north end of the structure is dated 1779, while the south end dates to 1826. At the back, there is a projecting wing with a first-floor three-light bowed window. Adjacent to the north end is a charming stable building that includes a circular corn-store at one end. Although the water wheel has been removed, the site is now used as a sewage pumping station, stores, and three dwelling houses. The group of buildings is notable not only for its early industrial significance but also for its overall attractiveness.
