Description

Egyptian House, located at Nos 6 and 7 on Chapel Street in Penzance, is an early 19th-century building designed in an extravagant Egyptian style. It stands three storeys tall and features three windows. The façade includes battered half-round corded pilasters, and the windows are adorned with glazing bars. Flanking the entrance are lotus bud columns, and above the windows, there are coved cornices. The building is also decorated with two obelisk caryatids and displays a coat of arms crowned by an eagle. A heavy coved crowning cornice completes the design. Nos 5 to 11, which are consecutive, form a group with this building.
