Description
St Ladoca's Well is a well of ancient origin, but the current structure likely dates from the 19th century. It is built from rubble, granite, and freestone, featuring a semi-circular plan. The well has a low corbelled roof that covers a spring, which is said to never run dry. The entrance is framed by rubble piers and has a freestone two-centred arch made from two stones, with the longer stone forming the apex. This arch includes a recessed Greek cross that probably dates from the 19th century. Each side wall has a 15th-century granite two-centred cusped arch that springs from ground level, which may have been reused after the church restoration in 1864. The roof is made of rubble and is cambered. Nearby, there is a disused mill leat.
