Description
Toms Cot is a house with a museum in the basement, dating from around the mid-18th century. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and features a slate roof with gable ends, along with rendered brick chimney stacks in the gable ends. The building has a single depth, two-room plan over a basement and stands two storeys tall with a basement. The front is asymmetrical with two windows. The entrance to the basement is on the left, accessed by steps leading down. To the right, there are slate steps leading to a raised stone rubble terrace across the front. On the left side, there is a four-panel door, and on the right, a 19th-century twelve-pane window. The first floor has two 20th-century two-light casements without glazing bars. Across the front of the ground floor, built on the raised terrace, is a 20th-century timber conservatory-style porch. Only the interior of the basement was inspected. The building is included for its group value.
