Description
Lower Penhale is a farmhouse dating from around the 1840s, with a mid-18th century wing at the rear. It is constructed of painted rubblestone and features a scantle slate roof with hipped ends and a gable end on the rear wing. The building has brick chimney shafts at the hipped ends and a rubblestone projecting stack with a brick shaft on the rear gable end. The layout is 'T' shaped, and the farmhouse is two storeys tall with a symmetrical three-window front. The ground floor includes a central panelled door, flanked by two 16-pane sash windows made of crown glass, which do not have horns. There are three similar windows above on the upper floor. The rear wing has 19th-century casement windows and a lean-to rubblestone porch at the angle. Additionally, there is a cloam oven projection in the gable end of the rear wing. The interior has not been inspected.
