Description
East Killcrew is a farmhouse dating from around the mid 18th century. It is constructed of rubblestone and features a slate roof with gabled ends. The building has projecting rubblestone stacks at the gable ends with brick shafts. The layout consists of two rooms and a through passage, with a later rear outshut that contains service rooms.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front. On the ground floor, there are two early 19th-century two-light casements, although the glazing bars on the left-hand window have been removed. These windows are topped with timber lintels. In the center, there is a plank door beneath a timber lintel. The upper floor features three early 19th-century two-light casements with glazing bars, also with timber lintels.
To the left of the gable end, there is an outbuilding, likely a shippon with a hayloft above, which is now used as a store. Inside, there are heavy timber rough-cut beams and a simple interior with mid to late 18th-century joinery. The first floor was not inspected.
