Description

WERRINGTON SX 38 NW 9/259 Cottage 80 metres to south west of - Bullapit Bridge

GV II

Pair of cottages now converted into one. Circa early C18. Stone rubble and cob, rendered on front elevation. Rag slate roof with gable ends. Projecting stone rubble end stack on left with brick shaft and brick shaft to axial stack near centre. Plan: Pair of one-room plan cottages; the left-hand cottage heated by an end stack on left with entrance on right and the right hand cottage heated by an axial stack on left with entrance in right hand side. It is possible that the right hand cottage is a later C18 addition since there is a definite straight joint between the two dwellings. Exterior: Two storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window front. Left hand cottage has a plank door with slate hood above to right of centre with small 1-light casement to right and C19 2-light casement to left. Two C19 2-light casements on first floor. Right- hand cottage has C19 2-light casement on ground and first floor with C19 plank door in right hand gable ends. Interior: not accessible.
