Description

The Old Inn Cottage is a house, originally built as an inn around the early 19th century. It is located in St Agnes, Cornwall. The house is constructed of rubble walls with granite lintels above the ground floor openings. It has an asbestos slate roof and painted brick chimneys at the gable ends. The layout is a double-depth plan, with two rooms at the front flanking a former cross passage and staircase, leading to two shallower service rooms at the back. A cellar is partitioned off in the lower right-hand corner. A later 19th-century lean-to cartshed is attached to the left side.

The north front is almost symmetrical with three windows. The original six-panel front door is centrally placed, flanked by windows. The first floor windows are original hornless sashes with glazing bars, while the ground floor windows are later 19th or 20th-century four-pane sashes with horns. The interior retains the original first-floor structure and some old doors. A large stone fireplace is in the left-hand room. The first-floor rooms and roof structure were not inspected. The building was formerly known as the Miners Arms, and offered for sale as an inn in 1826.
