Description

Padstow Pottery is a mid-19th century pottery and shop with accommodation above, located on the south side of Lanadwell Street in Padstow. It likely originated as a pair of houses, with shops inserted into the front rooms in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed of rendered and stuccoed timber framing, with a painted brick front, and has a scantle slate roof with brick end stacks. Originally, the houses would have had a double-depth plan with two rooms per floor. The pottery section has a 19th-century shop front, with an early 19th-century 12-pane sash window on the first floor. No. 11, to the right, features a 19th-century panelled door with a fanlight and a wide window with 19th-century glazing bars in the upper section. The first floor also contains an early 19th-century hornless 12-pane sash window. The ground floor partitions within the pottery have been removed, and the interior of No. 11 was not inspected during the listing assessment.
