Description
No. 2 is a house from the early 19th century, accompanied by attached walls. The front features incised stucco on rubble, while the left-hand side has slate hanging. It has a grouted scantle slate hipped roof and brick stacks at the ends. The building has an L-shaped plan with a later rear outshut and is two storeys high, displaying a symmetrical two-window front. The windows are from the 20th century, but there is an original four-panel door with an overlight. The left-hand return has five original 12-pane hornless sash windows.
Inside, the house retains many original features, including a staircase with stick balusters and a ramped handrail, four-panel doors, and most rooms have chimneypieces with iron grates. On the left side, the house is built over a high rubble retaining wall, which continues as a garden wall at both the front and rear. The wall at the road frontage ends at the rear right corner of the property, capped with a large round domed granite coping stone.
