Description
The capstan, dating from the early 19th century, is located directly to the northeast of the Cataclews Fish Cellars in St Merryn, Trevose Head. It is made of cast iron and has a circular shape with a ribbed waist, a curved base, and a slightly domed cap. This capstan was likely used in connection with the nearby fish cellars to the southwest and is positioned at the top of the slip leading down into Onjohn Cove.
