Description
29 St Thomas Street is a town house that underwent late 18th century rebuilding of a 17th century house. It is constructed from coursed granite rubble and features flat dressed granite arches, topped by a steep dry slate roof with a modillion eaves cornice. The building has a double-depth plan, which includes a rear wing at right angles. It stands two storeys high over a blocked basement and has a symmetrical three-window front. The windows are late 19th or 20th century four-pane horned sashes. The central doorway is pedimented and pilastered, approached by a flight of five granite steps, and features panelled reveals and a panelled door. The interior, when inspected around 1980, contained many 18th and 19th century features, along with some reused 17th century ovolo-moulded lintels above the front window openings.
