Description
Appledore is a private farmhouse that likely dates from the early to mid 18th century, with some raising work completed in the late 18th century. The building is constructed of rubblestone with a rendered ground floor above a base, and features slate hung on the first and second floors. It has a scantle slate roof with brick stacks at the gable ends. The layout probably consists of two rooms with a central cross passage that extends to the rear, along with later outshuts. The central bay is set slightly forward, creating a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are sashes with crown glass and no horns. The ground floor has two double 12-pane sashes flanking a central projecting bay, which contains a six-panelled door with glazed top lights. The first floor features two similar sashes flanking a 20th-century window in the original opening, while the top storey has three double 3 over 6-pane sashes. At the rear, there are single-storey and two-storey 19th-century outshuts. In the right-hand gable end of the outshut, there is a reset cut stone arch. The interior has not been inspected. The farmhouse was formerly known as Appledorford, as noted by J Polsue in "Lakes Parochial History of the County of Cornwall" published between 1867 and 1873.
