Description

Belmont is a house built in 1887, constructed from slate stone rubble with brick dressings and featuring a slate roof with hipped ends. It has a brick axial stack and is set into the side of a steeply sloping bank, resulting in a single-storey elevation facing the road and a two-storey elevation on the lower side, which has a deep battered base. The design effectively utilizes the challenging site and offers exceptional views. The entrance, located in the side wall, likely leads directly into a stair hall, with a reception room on the lower side to the right and a service room against the bank on the left.

The house has two storeys, with the front elevation on the lower side showcasing a battered base and brick segmental arches over the openings. There is a two-storey canted bay projection on the front, featuring 24-pane sash windows on the ground floor and 20-pane sash windows on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.

Belmont is part of a group of similar houses that overlook a steep-sided combe leading down to Boscastle Harbour, alongside Valley View, Lewarne, Meachard, Glenfinart, Penrowan, and Polqueens.
