Description
East Pendrift Farmhouse and the garden wall in front date from the early 17th century. The building is constructed of stone rubble with granite quoins and features a rag slate roof with gable ends. It has stone rubble end stacks, with the right-hand stack projecting and containing a cloam oven.
The farmhouse has a two-room layout, possibly with a through passage, featuring a larger hall on the left heated by the end stack and a kitchen on the right, which also has the cloam oven in the end stack. The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical three-window front. The entrance is located to the right of centre and includes a 19th-century stone rubble and ashlar granite porch with a six-panel door. To the left, there is a three-light granite mullion window, while the right side has a renewed 12-pane sash window set in the opening for a two-light mullion window, with the original lintel still in place. On the first floor, there are three 19th-century two-light casements. A late 19th or 20th-century buttress is present on the left gable end wall, and there is a stone rubble outshot from the 18th century across the rear. The stone rubble garden wall encloses the garden in front of the house.
The interior has not been inspected, but an interior inspection may reveal several interesting features and could help establish a more accurate date for the building. It is noted as an especially attractive and unaltered house.
