Description
The headstone of Christopher Hamby, dated 1791, is located 12 metres to the west of the tower of the Church of St. James in St Kew. This Grade II listed headstone commemorates Christopher Hamby, who passed away in that year. It is made of slate and features rounded corners. The inscription is presented in upper and lower case lettering with serifs, and includes a verse that reads: "Death with his dart did pierce my heart when I was passed my prime Farewel unto this wicked world twas Gods appointed time Farewel my wife and friends so dear no longer can I sojourn here Tho for a while you do miss I hope to meet you in Eternal bliss."
