House And Adjoining Barn

This building consists of a house and an adjoining barn, dating from the 17th century, with extensions made in the 19th century. The original house has been partially converted into a barn during the 19th century. It is constructed from granite moorstone rubble, featuring some granite dressings, while the front of the house is rendered. The roofs are covered with grouted scantle slate.

The house likely started as a three-room structure with a through passage. There are blocked doorways at the front and rear that once led to this passage. The rear, which was originally the front, has a round-headed doorway. The house was probably extended on the left side in the late 17th or 18th century, and a one-room wing was added at right angles to the rear left in the 19th century. Most of the original house on the right was converted into a barn in the 19th century, which features external steps providing access to a loading or winnowing doorway on the far right.

The exterior has two storeys and displays an overall three-window front facing northwest. The left side of the house has two windows and a doorway towards the right, with a 20th-century door and late 19th or 20th-century sash and casement windows. The barn's front, on the right, includes an original chamfered flat-headed doorway to the left of the center and a slit window that may be original, along with other 19th-century openings. There is a 19th-century nine-pane sash window on the first floor to the left and a wide loading doorway with steps in front on the right.

The interior of the house has not been inspected, but the barn is floorless and unpartitioned, featuring a 19th-century roof structure.
