Description
The Elsord and Dingley monuments are a pair of headstones located in the churchyard about 12 metres northwest of the tower of the Church of St Melor. They date from the mid-18th century and early 19th century. Both headstones are made of slate. The headstone for John Elsord, dated 1772, features a nowy head with a primitive carved figure in relief, holding two books, along with a couplet and good lettering. The headstone for Mary Dingley, dated 1818, has a shaped head with a primitive carved eye, pilasters, and carved stylised flowers.
