Description
Trethorne is a house dating from the late 17th century, constructed of stone rubble with a bitumen-coated rag slate roof featuring gable ends. It has a brick stack on the left and a projecting stone rubble stack with a brick shaft on the right gable end. The building has a two-room plan with a cross or through passage, where the larger room, likely a hall kitchen, is located on the higher side to the right and is heated by the projecting end stack. A single-storey outshot was added to the rear in the 18th century, which has a cat-slide roof.
The exterior is two storeys high and features an asymmetrical three-window front. The ground floor windows have been altered; there is a 20th-century window on the left with a granite lintel, and two 20th-century windows on the right, with the lintel having been replaced. A 20th-century plank door is located to the left of centre. On the first floor, there are two centre-hung, two-light casements from the 19th century and a central one-light casement from the same period. The interior is not accessible.
