Description
No. 7 Cross Street is a town house built in 1709, with later alterations and a 20th-century extension. The exterior features stucco on rubble, with large panelled end pilasters that rise above the parapet coping, and a steep asbestos slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high, with an overall four-window range that includes a symmetrical three-window front on the right. The early 19th-century tripartite hornless sash windows are found in the symmetrical section, except for the central late 19th-century canted oriel window, which has transomed casements, a moulded cornice, and an apron with a turned balustrade over arch-braced brackets leading to an integral porch. The porch features square end columns, panelled pilasters, and a similar balustrade as the apron of the oriel. The entrance has a four-panel door with matching panelled reveals. To the left, there is a 20th-century bay window with a modern horned copy of tripartite sashes. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
