Description

This is an early 19th-century house, later used as an office, located in Cross Street, Helston. The exterior is constructed of elvan ashlar with granite dressings, featuring a plinth, sills, jambstones, very shallow segmental arches, rusticated quoins, and a modillion cornice to the parapet. The roof is covered with dry slate and asbestos slate, with brick end stacks. The building follows a double-depth plan and is three storeys high, with a regular four-window front. The original hornless sash windows feature glazing bars, except for a horned copy window on the second floor, third from the left. The second-floor sashes are shorter and have high meeting rails. An entrance is located on the right-hand return. The interior was only partially inspected, but panelled window shutters are present on the ground and first floors; further investigation is likely to be of interest.
