Description
The Andrew Hall, formerly known as the Old National Schools, is a national school building now used as a hall, dated 1828. It features a granite ashlar front with a plinth, flat arches, and a mid-floor string, topped with an asbestos slate roof that has a coped front gable. The building has a deep plan and stands two storeys high with a symmetrical three-bay entrance gable front. The original 16-pane hornless sash windows are located on the first floor to the left and right, with the ground-floor center flanked by two doorways that have original six-panel doors. There is a central round-arched niche on the first floor inscribed with "NATIONAL SCHOOLS 1828." A 20th-century matching linking structure is set back on the left. The hall is part of a fine and remarkably complete group that includes the schoolhouses and the railings enclosing the front yard. The interior has not been inspected.
