Description
The bathing pool and bathing house, along with their enclosing walls, are located 150 meters northwest of Boconnoc House and date from the early to late 19th century. The walls are made of rubble stone and stand 2.4 meters high, featuring rusticated granite coping. On the south side, there is an entrance with a raised, reset 15th or 16th-century two-centred moulded doorway in the southeast corner, which has quatrefoils in the spandrels. These walls enclose a rectangular sunken bathing pool lined with ashlar granite blocks, with stone steps leading down into the pool at the northeast corner. A fountain on the west side displays a carved stone lion's head in a moulded stone surround, topped with a decorated curved pediment featuring volutes.
The early 19th-century bathing house on the east side has coursed stone walls and a slate pyramid roof with deep eaves. It is single-storey and almost square in plan, with opposing doors on the north and south sides. The west side features a half-glazed door with dressed stone voussoirs that leads directly into the pool area. Inside, there are benches in recessed niches on two sides and a plain shallow barrel vaulted plaster ceiling. The pool area is currently overgrown.
