Description
Dawna Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, which has been partly remodeled and extended at the rear in the mid 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a scantle slate roof with gabled ends and large stone stacks on the gable ends. The building has a double depth plan, which may have originally been designed as a three-room layout with a cross passage, though the entrance has since been moved from the left to the center.
The farmhouse is two storeys tall with an asymmetrical south facade. On the ground floor, there are two early 20th-century 2-light casement windows to the left of the door, with a blocked opening between them. To the right of the door, there are two similar windows, all of which are covered by slate hoods. The central entrance features a partly glazed late 19th-century door beneath a 20th-century porch with a hipped slate roof supported by square granite corner posts. Above, there are four 2-light early 20th-century casement windows.
On the right side of the gable end, there is a single-storey rubble stone store with a hipped scantle slate roof and an early 19th-century 2-light casement window that has cast iron honeycomb glazing bars. At the rear, there is a mid-19th-century facade with three windows, all featuring 2-light casements with glazing bars.
The interior has been altered, and the upper floor was not inspected. The site is historically significant as it is associated with a manor house and was noted in the Domesday Book.
