Description
East Dizzard Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from slatestone rubble with some cob and has an asbestos slate roof. The southeast range is one room deep and has been widened on either side of an off-centre door, which is now recessed. There is a massive stack at the right gable end. An L-shaped wing is attached to the right gable end and extends to the front. At the rear of the southeast range, there is an outshut.
The building is two stories high and features a two-window front, with a slated porch canopy set in a recess. To the left of the porch, there is a three-light ground floor window with a renewed casement. The first-floor window to the left is located under a raking roof and projects slightly above the eaves line. There is a 20th-century porch in the corner between the main range and the wing, and the windows in the wing are from the 20th century and do not have glazing bars. Inside the southeast range, there are several curved principals with through purlins, likely upper crucks, while the principals in the wing have purlins that are trenched into them.
