Description
The headstone of Ann Soper, dating from 1784, is located directly to the east of the tombchest of John Soper, 8 meters south of the south aisle of the Church of St. James. This slate rectangular headstone commemorates Ann, the wife of William Soper, who passed away in 1784. It features upper and lower case serif lettering, a crude angel's head, and an inscription that reads: "I was a flourishing young plant All in my youthful prime, And now I'm bought to death and dust, Twas God's appointed time My Husband dear and Children hear, Of you I take farewel And rest in hope to meet again In Heaven for to dwell."
