Description
This is a group of three headstones located about 11 meters east of the east wall of the Church of St George. They date from the early and late 18th century and are made of slate. Two of the headstones face west, while one faces east. The northern west-facing headstone commemorates Richard Soper, who was buried in 1735. It has a round head with scratch mouldings and features elaborate initial letters in the inscription. The southern west-facing headstone commemorates John Soper of Broadley, who was buried in 1704, and has a similar design with a fleur de lis carved at the top. The third headstone, located about 2 meters to the west, commemorates Ann Soper, who was buried in 1781. It has a stepped head and includes a verse below the inscription.
