Description
Treslothan Church Cottages are a pair of cottages that have been combined into one dwelling, dated 1845 above the central window. They were designed by George Wightwick of Plymouth for the Pendarves estate and have recently undergone alterations and restoration. The cottages are constructed from snecked granite ashlar with a slate roof and feature an H-plan layout formed by a short central range with cross-wings in a Tudor style. The building is one and one-and-a-half storeys tall, with a chamfered plinth. The set-back single-storey centre includes a 6-light chamfered mullion-and-transom window with diamond leaded glazing, and above this window is a datestone with raised lettering that reads: E.W.W.P. 1845. There are two chimneys, one in front and one behind the ridge at each end of the building. The wings have matching ground floor windows, simple 2-light windows above, and gable copings with kneelers. Each side wall features a gabled porch with a Tudor-arched outer doorway that has a moulded surround and hollow spandrels. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, these cottages are part of a small model village built by E.W.W. Pendarves on the site of the former hamlet of Treslothan.
