Description

This is a tombchest located 4.5 metres south of the south aisle of the Church of St Julitta, built in 1768. It commemorates Honor Hender, the widow of William Hender of Camelford, who died in 1768, and Grace Jeffery, the wife of William Jeffery, who died in 1799. The tombchest is low with the chest removed, featuring a deep granite lid and a rectangular slate ledger stone. The inscription is in both upper and lower case lettering and includes a verse in cursive script, topped with an angel's head. The verse reads: "Kind angels guard this bed of dust Till Jesus comes to raise the just Then may she wake with sweet surprise And in our Saviours image rise."
