WERRINGTON SX 38 NW 9/272 Leat Farmhouse, outbuilding - adjoining left and garden wall to front

Farmhouse and outbuilding adjoining on left and garden wall to front. Circa C17. Stone rubble with rendered cob above first floor. Rag slate roofs with gable ends. The taller left hand side of the house has a taller, steeper pitched roof than the right hand side. At least one early crested ridge tile towards left hand end. Stone rubble and brick shaft to axial stack backing onto passage and brick shaft to end stack on right. Plan: Original plan uncertain. The house is of two room and cross passage plan, the smaller right hand room heated by an end stack and the larger left hand room heated by an axial stack which backs onto the passage. Rectangular plan outbuilding attached on front of left hand corner of house, the outbuilding and house forming an overall 'L' shaped plan. Exterior: Two storeys. Regular 4-window front with entrance to right of centre. Complete early C19 16-pane hornless sashes. C19 6-panel door with slate hood flanked by two sashes on left and one on right. Four sashes above ground floor openings. The left hand side of the house has a slightly taller and steeper pitched roof than that on the right. The outbuilding attached to the front left of the house is of stone rubble and cob with a corrugated iron roof with hipped end to front. Overall rectangular plan. Two storeys with two doors and a window to right on the ground floor. Garden walls enclose garden to front of house. They are stone rubble walls with slate coping and probably C19. Interior: Not accessible.
