Holiday Cottages 5 Metres To North West Of Worthyvale Manor

The holiday cottages located 5 meters to the northwest of Worthyvale Manor are believed to date from the late 16th century, with remodels in the 19th and late 20th centuries. Originally used as outbuildings, possibly as a rear wing of Worthyvale Manor, they have been converted into shippons, stables, and a coach house before becoming holiday accommodation. The structure is built from slate stone rubble with granite dressings and features a slate roof with gable ends. It has a rectangular single depth plan, showing several straight joints on the front and rear elevations that indicate significant alterations over time.

The interiors have been largely changed, but some original features remain, including a first-floor fireplace in the coach house, which dates back to the early 17th century. The cottages have a single-storey elevation facing the courtyard, with a symmetrical front that includes seven windows. Notable architectural details include late 16th or early 17th century granite chamfered three-centered arched entrances, one of which is located to the left of the center and features the initials CW in the spandrels, likely referring to Christopher Worthyvale, who died in 1664. There are also three-light mullion windows, some of which have been partly restored, and a late 16th century three-light mullion window with segmental arched openings. The two-storey elevation on the southwest side includes 20th-century windows.
