ST AGNES TURNAVORE MINE SW 75 SW 4/229 Turnavore Engine House - (at SW71785134) GV II
Pumping beam engine house. Circa late C19. Killas rubble with granite and brick dressings. Brick to upper part of chimney. Corrugated asbestos roof with gable ends. Plan: Rectangular plan engine house with round chimney clasping the rear left-hand corner. Exterior: 3 storeys. Unaltered elevations except that some openings have been blocked. Round-arched front and rear doorways; pointed-arched principal window openings. Front (bob) wall has central doorway. Weather- boarding to second floor and gable. Rear wall has wide central cylinder doorway (within later lean-to) and large central window to each floor above. Right-hand (nearside) wall has doorway on the left blocked openings to first floor and large window to second floor. Left-hand (offside) wall has large window on the right and another large window to middle of first floor. The large windows have old 6-pane casements and the tympana of their pointed arches are weather-boarded. Interior not inspected.
